Korean-American group plans dinner

The Korean American Community Association of Howard County will hold its appreciation dinner for friends of "CareLine," the organization's hot line counseling and information service for Korean-Americans living in the county and nearby communities.

The dinner will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at The Gathering Place, 6120 Day Long Lane, Clarksville. Admission is $75.

Hearing set on uses for anti-crime grant

Howard County is eligible for a U.S. Department of Justice/Bureau of Justice assistance grant of $32,844 for programs to combat crime and improve public safety.

The amount awarded is based on population and the incidence of crimes in the area.

A public hearing is to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday to comment on how the money should be spent. The meeting will be held in the Community Meeting Room at Police Headquarters, 3410 Court House Drive, Ellicott City.

Session slated on philanthropy

The Business Women's Network of Howard County will present "For the Love of Giving: Incorporating Philanthropy into Your Personal and Business Life," an event with champagne, chocolate and light fare, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Savage Manor, 8502 Fair St., Savage.

Tickets are $40.

Family-support group being offered

The Howard County chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will offer a family-support group at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Day Room at Harmony Hall Retirement Community, 6336 Cedar Lane, Columbia.

Admission is free; those who attend need not be members of NAMI.
