RALEIGH, N.C. -- There were several opportunities yesterday afternoon for Maryland to steal a win from No. 18-ranked North Carolina State, but the Terps' chances disappeared with each missed layup, and in the end, an upset was out of their grasp.

Maryland junior guard Mike Jones called the Terps' untimely mistakes "mental lapses," and he said there were a few.
