Horse park a bad fit for Gambrills

I'd like to publicly thank Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens for seeming to see the big picture in all of this horse park/dairy farm mess and state Del. John R. Leopold and County Councilwoman Pamela G. Beidle for attending and giving us their viewpoints at the public meeting on Jan. 25 at the West County library.

I do not know anyone who is opposing the proposed horse park at the [Naval Academy] dairy farm who is against the horse park going ahead at another location. We just do not feel that it is a good fit for the horse park to be placed in Gambrills, on the dairy farm. To throw away the treasure that is the dairy farm when the governor is trying to increase the number of farms and the Farm Bureau is working hard to ensure that farming stays a part of life in Maryland just doesn't make sense!

To the politicians: What we want is that you do the right thing in whatever office you may be going. Preserve what we have in the Naval Academy dairy farm - the largest organic certified farm in Maryland. Place this sports horse complex somewhere else.
