VIRGINIA LORAINE SPEAR, 92, a resident of Autumn Care, Shallotte, NC and formerly of Wilmington, NC and Baltimore, MD died Wednesday, February 1, 2006. Born in Wilmington, NC on November 21, 1913 she was a daughter of the late Jonathan Luther and Josephine Blake Taylor. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son Frank Spear and a daughter Diane Dameron. Prior to her retirement. She was a sales associate for Hershel Cones Department Stores. Surviving are two sons, Carlton E. Spear, Holden Beach, NC and Kenneth B. Spear, Wilmington, NC. Two daughters, Frances "Fran" S. Vogt, Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Barbara S. Dieter, Holden Beach, NC. A daughter-in-law, Betsy Spear of Denver, CO. Three brothers Lyman Taylor, Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Dillon Taylor, Shallotte, NC and J.L. Taylor, Jr, San Francisco, CA. Two sisters, Gertrude Irving, Wilmington, NC and Kathleen Dodd, New Smyrna Beach, FL. 13 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in the Village Point United Methodist Church, Shallotte, NC by the Rev. Donald Barclay, Jr. Burial will be at a later date in the Sater Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Following the services her family will receive friends from the residence of her daughter Fran Vogt, 1652 Carriage Place, Bricklanding Plantation, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Memorials in memory of Mrs. Spear may be directed to the Village Point United Methodist Church, 1492 Village Point Road, SW, Shallotte, NC 28470.
