Technology seminar to be held Tuesday

The Baltimore/Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will offer a business tools seminar, "Critical Technology Issues Facing Small Business," from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at chamber offices, 312 Marshall Ave., Suite 104, Laurel.

A panel of technology experts will discuss topics such as security, best practices, back-up and business continuity, and documenting the value of business systems. Those who register in advance will receive a compact disc that includes business-continuity planning tools and checklists.

The cost is $10 in advance for members; $20 for nonmembers and members paying at the door. A light breakfast will be provided.

Legislative reception is set for Feb. 15

The Government Affairs Committee of the Baltimore/Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will hold a legislative reception for chamber members and members of the General Assembly from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Miller Senate Office Building, President's Conference Center West I, 11 Bladen St., Annapolis.

The cost for members is $35 in advance; $45 at the door and for nonmembers.

A chartered bus will leave from chamber offices at 4:30 p.m. and arrive in Annapolis by 5:15 p.m., departing from Annapolis at 8 p.m. Space is limited.

Welcome Center set for Columbia project

WCI Communities Inc. is opening a Welcome Center for the Plaza Residences at Columbia Town Center, a high-rise condominium community for which construction is to begin this year.

The 10,000-square-foot center will be on the main level of the Exhibit Building, 10215 Wincopin Circle, immediately southeast of the building site for the tower. It will include a display area with floor plans, lists of amenities and other information about the tower.

The 22-story, 160-unit Plaza at Columbia tower is to be completed by mid-2008. Luxury amenities are to include gourmet kitchens, private elevators connecting the parking garage to each residence, a gym and a swimming pool.

Welcome Center open houses will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and Feb. 8 in the Exhibit Building.
