Consecutive victories for the Institute of Notre Dame in "The Game," the girls basketball showdown with Mercy that reaches its 40th year with Friday night's meeting at the Towson Center. In a rivalry that draws a crowd of 4,000 fans annually, Mercy leads the series 25-14.


Points by which unranked Mervo defeated then-No. 7 Douglass on Jan. 24. In the 68-57 upset victory over their Baltimore City League rival, the Mustangs got 20 points from John Williams, 16 from Walter Saunders and 12 from Antoine Wallace.


Years that Bryn Mawr and St. Timothy's have played each other in girls basketball, believed to be the longest continuous high school girls basketball series in the nation. Bryn Mawr hosts St. Timothy's Friday night at 6:30.
