Acquisitions

Bill Betz acquired the brokerage insurance agency of Don Rizzo & Associates Inc./Capitas Financial. The new regional company will be known as Betz, Rizzo & Associates LLC, with its headquarters remaining in Lanham.

CSA, a Bethesda-based information resources company, acquired Community of Science Inc., an Internet site for the research and development community; PapersInvited, a database of calls for research papers; and the publication, Annual Register.

Alliances

PERFORMAX, a Baltimore-based developer and administrator of employee health benefit plans, entered into an alliance with Interactive Health Solutions. IHS will provide job site health screenings and follow-up consultations for PERFORMAX participants.

Kudos

Who's Who Legal named James P. Gillece and Jeanne M. Phelan of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston as nationally leading practictioners in the field of labor and employment law.

New contracts

CompuDyne, an Annapolis-based security products and technology firm, said it won $26.7 million in contracts in December.

Nonprofit news

The Hatcher Group namedTom Waldron, Deborah Stein and Helina Teklehaimanot to its staff. The Bethesda-based communications firm works with foundations and nonprofits for social change.
