Two Harford County residents were sentenced to federal prison terms yesterday in connection with raids last year of several methamphetamine laboratories in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Mary Atti, 48, was ordered to serve 2 1/2 years, and Donald Lee Burchette Sr., 44, was sentenced to two years in prison. They pleaded guilty in October and November to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute the highly addictive drug commonly known as meth.
The raids of a rural farmhouse and other remote areas in July raised concerns that the drug, which has been a problem throughout the Midwest, was moving east.
Two other people charged in the case also have pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy charges and are scheduled to be sentenced this year in federal court. Terry Lee McMillion, 44, of Brogue, Pa., is to be sentenced Feb. 2; Carol Ann Lee, 42, also of Brogue, is to be sentenced April 28. Each could receive a maximum of 40 years in prison.
