O's complete minor league staffs

The Orioles today announced that they have hired five people to complete their minor league coaching staffs for the 2006 season.

Blaine Beatty was hired as the pitching coach for Single-A Frederick. He spent the past two seasons as a pitching coach in the New York Mets organization after serving five years as pitching coach in the Pittsburgh system. Originally drafted by the Orioles in 1986, Beatty appeared in 7 games for the Mets over parts of three seasons, 1989-1991.

Alex Arias was named as field coach for the Keys. He played 775 games with five teams over parts of 11 major league seasons (1992-2002). This will be Arias' first year as a coach.

Gary Allenson returns to the Orioles organization as manager at Rookie League Bluefield. Allenson was manager for Triple-A Ottawa in 2003 and led the Lynx to a 79-65 record and appearance in the International League playoffs. He spent last season as manager for AA Carolina in the Florida organization.

Giomar Guevara will make his coaching debut under Allenson at Bluefield this season. Guevara appeared in 26 games for the Seattle Mariners, 1997-1999. A native of Venezuela, Guevara played 10 seasons in the minor leagues from 1993 to 2002.

Jesus Alfaro has joined the coaching staff at Single-A Aberdeen. He has spent the past 11 years in the Orioles organization, including last season as manager at Bluefield.
