Thunderstorm, strong winds cause isolated power outages

January 15, 2006|By BRADLEY OLSON

A Friday night thunderstorm and powerful wind gusts expected to stretch into today caused isolated power outages throughout the state.

As many as 19,000 customers were without power at times yesterday, Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. reported on its Web site. The outages were concentrated in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties and Baltimore City.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory through 7 a.m. today, saying that gusts as high as 50 mph in Maryland could cause further outages and make driving certain vehicles difficult.
