4 charged in home invasion

Four male suspects have been arrested and charged in a home-invasion robbery and rape last week in a Woodlawn apartment, Baltimore County police said yesterday.

Being held without bail in the Baltimore County Detention Center are Donte Lanard Ross, 20, of the 2900 block of Essex Road in Woodlawn, Devon Mardell Ross, 17, of the 2800 block of Gatehouse Road in Baltimore, Raymond Antonio Vernon, 17, of the 6700 block of Townbrook Drive in Woodlawn and Michael Anthony Long, 16, of the 800 block of N. Luzerne Ave. in Baltimore. All are charged with first-degree rape, armed robbery, first-degree burglary and first-degree assault in the Dec. 27th incident. The juveniles have been charged as adults, police said.

On Dec. 27, a man knocked on the door of an apartment in the 2000 block of Summit Ave. and asked to use a phone, police said.

Once the door was opened, several people entered the residence and assaulted three people inside. During the incident, a 24-year-old woman was raped, police said, and electronic equipment and personal items were stolen.

Donte Ross and one of the juveniles also are charged with armed robbery, first-degree burglary and first-degree assault in a similar incident Dec. 26 at an apartment in the 2000 block of Richglen Drive in Woodlawn, police said.

Two other juveniles were charged last week in the Dec. 26 incident, police said. Jay Kevin Phillips, 16, of the 3100 block of Thornfield Road in Woodlawn and Karl Blair Bridgewater, 17, of the 1600 block of Ingleside Ave. in Edmondson Heights were charged as adults with armed robbery, first-degree burglary, grand theft and first-degree assault, police said. Each is being held in lieu of $750,000 bail.
