A Brandywine trip
Take a winter road trip to the Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, Pa., now through Jan. 8, to catch a last glimpse of the holiday exhibit A Brandywine Christmas. On display will be a huge O-gauge model railroad, Ann Wyeth McCoy's antique dolls and a fanciful Victorian dollhouse.
There also will be a display of the thousands (yes, thousands) of decorative "critter" ornaments (some samples, above and right) made from all-natural materials by the museum's volunteers. The critters are often animals, angels, historical figures and storybook characters.
Visitors also can enjoy seeing the 'Twas the Night Before Christmas exhibition that examines the many interpretations of Maj. Henry Livingston's poem A Visit From St. Nicholas, through paintings, prints, drawings and more.
See the holiday exhibits through Jan. 8 at the museum, U.S. Route 1, Chadds Ford, Pa. Admission $8; $5 seniors and students; free for those under 6. Details: 610-388-2700 or brandywinemuseum.org.
