The River Hill Community Association will sponsor "One Day," a multicultural event to celebrate the community's diversity, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 14 at Claret Hall, 6030 Daybreak Circle.
Displays by groups and residents from a variety of countries, a multicultural fashion show, performances and food sampling are planned. Admission is free.
The community association will observe National Wear Red Day, a campaign to fight heart disease, by collecting donations for the American Heart Association and distributing red ribbon pins Feb. 3.

At the library -- The Glenwood library, 2350 Route 97, Cooksville, will present "Penguins on Parade," a program of stories, activities and a craft for children age 4 and older to explore the world of penguins, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday. Registration is required. 410-313-5579.
"Play Partners," a drop-in program for infants and toddlers to age 23 months (with an adult) will be offered at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 10 through Feb. 14. Registration is not needed.
"3, 2, Fun!" - a program of stories, activities and games for preschoolers ages 2 and 3 with an adult - will be offered at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Mondays, Jan. 9 through Feb. 13. Registration is not needed.
"Pajama Time!" - a program of stories and songs for all ages before bedtime - will be offered at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 11 through Feb. 15. Children to age 3 must be accompanied by an adult. Pajamas and stuffed animals are welcome. Registration is not needed.
A scavenger hunt for children ages 6 to 10, "In Search of ... at the Library," will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 21. Registration begins Jan. 14.
"Out in Space," a program for children ages 6 to 10 on the mysteries of space, will be held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Jan. 23. Registration begins Jan. 16.
Also at the library -- The Glenwood library, 2350 Route 97, Cooksville, will hold a meeting of its Western Howard County Seniors Book Club at 10 a.m. Wednesday to discuss Light on Snow by Anita Shreve. The Mother/Daughter Book Club, for girls age 11 and older and their mothers, will discuss The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer at 7 p.m. Jan. 11. Refreshments will be served.
The Graphic Novel Club, a group for youth ages 11 to 17, will discuss favorite titles, styles and drawing techniques from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at the library. Registration is not needed.
"Genealogy at Your Library," a program on discovering resources for exploring ancestry, including books, magazines, databases and the Internet, will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 19. Registration is required.
High school play -- The River Hill High School drama department will present One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, written by Dale Wasserman and based on Ken Kesey's book of the same name, at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13, 14 and 15 in the school auditorium, 12101 Route 108, Clarksville. The black comedy contains difficult subject matter; parental discretion or supervision is strongly advised. The drama department suggests that children younger than 13 who attend be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Sales begin Tuesday at the River Hill High School Media Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, and near the school's dining hall from 10:15 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. weekdays.
