Baltimore County police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect in an armed robbery of a 79-year-old man in the 9200 block of Nottingwood Road in Nottingham last week.

Detectives said that on Dec. 20, 2005, at 11:30 a.m., the victim was pulling into his driveway when he noticed a white, four-door car pull in behind him. A man got out of the car and approached the victim, asking for directions. The man then pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim's wallet. The suspect searched the victim's pockets, found his wallet and removed an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect then demanded that the victim take him into his home. When the victim refused, the suspect grabbed him around the neck and hit him with the handgun on the back of his head before fleeing. The victim was transported to Franklin Square Hospital for treatment and later released.

The suspect is described as a black male, 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a light goatee. He was wearing a brimmed cap.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587). Those calling Metro Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and might be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
