The 13th Floor

The Venue

December 29, 2005|By SAM SESSA

This club and lounge occupies the Belvedere's top floor in Mount Vernon. Large windows line two walls and offer a stunning view of the city.

Where --The Belvedere, 1 E. Chase St.

Call --410-347-0888

Web site --www.the13th-floor.com

Notable --The experience. From the hotel lobby, you ride one of the two plush but cramped elevators up 13 stories. The elevator doors open right into the club, where white rope lights squiggle across the ceiling, mirrors cover the vertical supports and a leopard-print carpet lies underfoot. The walls are dark red and most of the chairs are black.

Vibe --When it's packed and bodies start bouncing, the place gets slightly hedonistic.

What to wear --Don't bum around at the 13th Floor. You'll see designer jeans, button-down shirts, black pants and dresses on pretty much everybody there.

Crowd --Mostly in their late 20s and up, with cash to spend and makeup to dance off.

Music --There's a jazz happy hour Wednesday nights, rock and funk bands on Thursdays, reggae on Fridays and salsa on Saturdays.
