December 28, 2005|By MELISSA HARRIS | MELISSA HARRIS,SUN REPORTER

A fire on Ancient Sea Path in Laurel displaced a family Monday morning, a Howard County fire official said yesterday.

Bill Mould, spokesman for the Howard County Fire and Rescue Department, said that the fire started in the family room of the new, two-story house about 6:30 a.m. Mould said the fire was accidental but that investigators have not determined the cause.

No one was home at the time, but the residents arrived at the scene in the 10100 block shortly after firefighters. The fire caused $125,000 in damage to the structure and $80,000 in damage to contents, Mould said.

In an unrelated fire, flames consumed a townhouse under construction in the 7000 block of Oak Grove Way in Elkridge about 7:30 a.m. yesterday. Investigators also ruled this fire accidental. It caused $95,000 in damage.
