Roch Around the Clock

Roch Around the Clock

The Orioles continue to conduct their business with heavy hearts. Calls must be made and returned, but it's never easy while in mourning.

Imagine how Mike Flanagan feels, having been a teammate and close friend of Elrod Hendricks, and the man who had to make the incredibly difficult decision to relieve Elrod of his bullpen duties for fear that the daily grind, including the travel, would be too much. I can only imagine. I hope Flanny knows how much Elrod loved him. I heard the man speak about him enough times to know this is true.

Anyway, the business part for the Orioles includes constant inquiries about Erik Bedard. Every team seems to want him. The Orioles probably could have made a dozen deals by now if they were more open to trading him. They just don't feel that they're getting enough in return, especially if any deal also includes Miguel Tejada. Todd Walker? Corey Patterson? Um, thanks Chicago, but they'll pass.

What exactly would the Orioles do with Todd Walker, a defensively challenged second baseman who would represent a salary dump for the Cubs? And Patterson hardly is a significant upgrade over Luis Matos in center field.
