Campo is named VoxTec vice president

VoxTec International Inc. in Annapolis has named Laurent Campo as its vice president and general counsel.

Campo practiced law at several law firms in Washington and specializes in corporate and securities transactions, with particular knowledge and experience in high technology and emerging growth companies.

VoxTec is the manufacturer of the Phraselator P2, a hand-held translation system developed for the military with support from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

TechAwards winners announced

The TechAwards 05:Tech@the Speed of Light award winners were announced during the inaugural technology awards for Anne Arundel County Dec. 8 at Loews Annapolis Hotel.

The seven award categories and winners were AAEDC Gold Coast Award, Rand Griffin of Corporate Office Properties Trust; Innovator Award, Quantum Sails Design Group in Annapolis; Innovator Award-Start-Up, Pharmathene; Good Apple Award, Martha Smith of Anne Arundel Community College; Tech Company of the Year, CBay Systems Inc.; Legend's Circle-Individual, Kay Hill of National Security Agency; Legend's Circle-Company, ARINC.

Boat-building classes planned for 2006

The Chesapeake Light Craft will offer a series of boat-building classes throughout 2006.

The 5 1/2 -day boat-building workshops offer participants a chance to learn from professionals and build a boat with their own hands.

The first workshop, Build Your Own Chesapeake 17LT Kayak, will be held from Jan. 23 to Jan. 28 and will be led by John Harris at the CLC shop.

Local Chamber elects new officials

The Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce has announced its newly elected officers and directors for 2006. They will be installed at the Chamber's annual installation dinner in January.

The new officers are President Carla Logan of Constellation Generation Group; First Vice President Wamahdri Williams, P.E. Williams Associates-Engineers; Second Vice President Paulette Morris of Idea Weaver Promotions; Treasurer Stanley L. Gordon, Gordon and Associates; Secretary Steve Zahn of Harms & Associates; and board Chairman John Meaney of the Columbia Bank.

Directors are Ken Menzies Jr. of Donald & Menzies; Jeannie Weitzel of Office Depot; Rob Sullivan of Chesapeake Spas North; John Barranco of Barranco & Sons; and Michael Hall of Severna Park Lanes.

Get introduced to feng shui Jan. 19

Yarrow, certified feng shui practitioner and owner of Feng Shui at the Bay, and Gina Garunkstis, owner of GG Design Inspirations, will offer a complimentary introduction on how feng shui and interior design work together to create peaceful and comfortable environments.

The class will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Annapolis/Severna Park area. Venue details will be available upon registration.

Dog obedience course scheduled

YMCA Camp Letts, 4003 Camp Letts Road, Edgewater, will offer an eight-week dog obedience course from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays from Jan. 9 through Feb. 27.

Dogs must be at least 4 months old and current on their vaccinations.
