Bank announces four promotions

Mary Ann Scully, president and chief executive officer of Howard Bank, has announced the promotion of four assistant vice presidents to vice president.

Promoted were Donna Fredericks, consumer loan manager; Barbara Knickman, deposit operations manager; Brenda Tomkins, commercial loan manager; and Steve Poynot, relationship manager.

Christine DeBernard, senior vice president, operations executive for Howard Bank, has been elected to the board and named treasurer of the Friends of the Howard County Library.

The Elkridge resident previously served on the board of Communities Organized to Improve Life in Southeast Baltimore.

Local vet's collie takes show prize

Dr. Nancy Kelso, a veterinarian on the staff of the Columbia Animal Hospital, has announced that her dog, Cavey, took second place in the national sheepherding competition at the Collie Club of America National Specialty in Rochester, N.Y.

A graduate of Wilde Lake High School, Purdue University and the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Kelso breeds, trains and shows rough- and smooth-coated collies. Another of her dogs, Prince Phillip, won best of breed at the Philadelphia Dog Show last month.
