Key stats: -- BYU is No. 8 in pass offense (306.3 ypg). Cal is No. 10 in rush offense (234.7 ypg).

California -- The Golden Bears have struggled all season throwing the ball, and junior QB Steve Levy -- making just his second career start -- can be expected to hand off often tonight. Tailback Marshawn Lynch averages 116.9 yards a game. Cal comes in having lost four of its past six, and the Golden Bears allowed 35.5 points per game in those losses.

BYU -- QB John Beck has had a nice season (24 TD passes, 11 intercep tions, 64.4 percent completions), and wide receiver Todd Watkins and tight end Jonny Harline are the go-to re ceivers. Four opponents have rushed for 200 yards against BYU, and if Cal does that, it's going to win. Lineback er Cameron Jensen is BYU's best de fensive player.

The buzz -- This is BYU's first bowl since the 2001 season and Cal's third bowl in a row.
