Ryan Conroy, Atholton

STATS -- The 145-pound junior, who is 7-0 with five pins after last weekend's Perry Hall Tournament, relies on athleticism and a straight-ahead approach to find success on the mat. Conroy, who picked up the sport in second grade and wrestled for the Howard County Vipers in the junior league, earned first-team All-County honors last season after going 28-9 and placing fourth at states.

SIDELINES -- Conroy has a 3.71 grade point average and has an interest in early American literature. He is a member of the National Honor Society and he plans to study business or marketing in college. Conroy says he's "a normal kid who likes to chill with friends." He added that his Sundays are dedicated to watching the Washington Redskins.
