SPORT FOOTALL

BOYS

STATS -- Martin backed up Harford County Player of the Year David Dudley at running back and was a potent weapon for the Mariners. The junior finished with 538 yards in the regular season, averaging an impressive 15.8 yards per carry and scoring seven touchdowns. Martin broke off a long kickoff return that set up a key insurance touchdown in Joppatowne's win over Stephen Decatur in the Class 2A state quarterfinals.

SIDELINES -- This is Martin's first year at Joppatowne. His family moved from Howard County, where he'd been at Wilde Lake. Martin didn't play football last year because of a wrist injury. He also served as the backup quarterback and starting cornerback for the Mariners.
