Walbrook's Rodney Spruill, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound swing guard, paced the defending Class 4A state champions over last week's three-game winning streak, helping to raise the Warriors' record to 5-0. In that time, Spruill averaged more than 23 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.

In a 67-24 blowout of Digital Harbor on Dec. 12, Spruill scored 15 points, had 11 rebounds and blocked six shots. Two days later, in a 69-60 victory over Harford County power Aberdeen, Spruill had 12 each in points and rebounds to go with one blocked shot.

Spruill finished the run in Friday's 72-68 win over then-No. 6 Southwestern in a battle of unbeaten teams, as he scored a career-high 43 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked three shots.

Spruill, who has a strong left hand, earned Baltimore City Player of The Year honors in 2004-05 when he averaged 16.9 points, 12.1 rebounds and two blocked shots. Spruill is headed for Towson University on a basketball scholarship.

Others considered: Brandon Wright, Long Reach, indoor track; Jimmy Dorsey, Winters Mill, basketball; Keith Brown, McDonogh, indoor track.
