Brother Derek, who finished fourth with odds of 56-1 in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, established himself as a contender for next year's Triple Crown with a one-length victory over Your Tent Or Mine in yesterday's $407,250 Hollywood Futurity at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif.

The son of Benchmark ran 1 1/16 miles in 1 minute, 42.02 seconds to become the fifth California-bred winner of the Grade I Futurity. He established himself as a horse to watch leading to the 2006 Kentucky Derby, a race six Futurity champs have won, including Giacomo in 2005.

Laurel Park -- Magical Broad, who went to post at 10-1, powered to victory in the $50,000 Squan Song Stakes for Maryland-bred fillies and mares. Magical Broad was trained by Richard Small and ridden by Horacio Karamanos. Post-time favorite Starleena finished second, and long shot Experts Only ran third. Magical Broad, who had run second in the Twixt Stakes earlier this fall, covered the seven furlongs in 1:26.55.

Calder Race Course -- Film Maker beat Kate Winslet by 3 1/2 lengths in the $200,000 La Prevoyante Handicap in Miami. Ridden by Edgar Prado, Film Maker ran 1 1/2 miles in 2:27 3/5. It was Film Maker's first win since taking the Gallorette Handicap at Pimlico Race Course on Preakness Day.
