Rec council's free holiday show is tonight

Volunteers at the South Laurel Recreation Council invite children and adults to the council's free children's holiday program at 7 p.m. today in the multipurpose room of Deerfield Run Elementary School and Community Center, 13000 Laurel-Bowie Road, Laurel.

Bob Brown Puppets will present the "Nutcracker Fantasy" and Santa and his animal friends will visit. Each child will receive a gift. Parking is free. Tickets and reservations are not needed.

The school and community center is on Route 197, near Contee Road, a quarter-mile west of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

The volunteers, who are celebrating 36 years of service, provide the annual program as a gift to the community.

Games Galore at Savage library

Games Galore, an afternoon program of favorite games such as Scrabble, Life, Monopoly and Clue, will be offered for youngsters ages 11 and older at the Savage branch library at 4 p.m. Jan. 3, 17 and 31.

Registration is not needed.

Successful clothing -- Sandy's Repeat Performance, a consignment men's and women's clothing resale shop in Historic Savage Mill, is holding a fundraiser for Success in Style, a nonprofit organization that provides free business attire and fashion advice to disadvantaged women looking to enter or re-enter the work force.
