Troopers to hold Christmas party for kids today

December 18, 2005

Maryland Troopers Association Lodge 20 will hold its 25th annual Christmas For Kids party at 1 p.m. today at the Westminster Fire Engine and Hose Company.

The party for 80 underprivileged children and their families will include crime victims as well as disadvantaged youngsters.

The event will begin with a holiday dinner prepared by Lodge 20 members at the fire hall. Afterward, Santa Claus will arrive to distribute gifts to the children.

The state troopers raise money throughout the year to buy gifts for the children. They shopped yesterday at the Westminster Target store, then wrapped the presents at the fire hall for Santa to hand out.

The fire department donates its facilities for the party.
