Annapolis couple found fatally shot at home

CRIME WATCH

December 17, 2005|By BRADLEY OLSON | BRADLEY OLSON,SUN REPORTER

An Annapolis man and his wife were found dead yesterday after he apparently shot her and then turned the gun on himself, police said.

Anne Arundel County police said the couple was found in an upstairs bedroom of a home in the 1700 block of Wood Tree Circle. Police met a friend of the victim there yesterday morning after she called them to say she was concerned because she had not seen her friend at work for the past two days.

Police went into the home and found the 59-year-old man and 63-year-old woman dead. Police are withholding their names pending notification of next of kin. A firearm was recovered at the scene, but police said they did not know if it was the gun used in the shootings.

There were no signs of forced entry and nothing was missing from the home, police said. The investigation into the case is continuing.

The case appears to be the second murder-suicide in the county since October, and the third shooting incident ending in a suicide in as many months.
