On Saturday, the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:30 A.M., with services to follow. Inquiries to 410-945-2700.(Thomas)WATKINS, 86, of 146 North Hancock Street, Craigsville, Virginia was called to her Eternal Home on Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Lexington, Virginia. She was born on July 13, 1919 in Craigsville, the daughter of the late Tarver James Thomas, Sr. and Alto Lillian (Kenney) Thomas. In July of 1937, she married James Wilson Rucker who preceded her in death. She later married Vance R. Watkins, who continued to stay by her side until the Lord called her home. Mrs. Watkins attended Garnett Patterson Junior High in Washington, D.C. during the year 1935 and for one term she attended Armstrong High in Washington, D.C. Effie then attended Apex Beauty School in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated in 1964. She attended Catonsville Community College and was certified as a Central Supply Technician in 1977. Effie worked as a waitress at Harbor Field Airport in Dundalk, Maryland until the airport closed and was rebuilt as Friendship Airport, now known as BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. She later worked at Lutheran Hospital in Baltimore as a Medical Clerk until her retirement in 1982. In addition to her husband, Vance R. Watkins of Craigsville, she is survived by two loving sons, James T. Rucker and wife Ambia and Moses W. Rucker and wife Joyce; five grandchildren, James Rucker, Jr., Ivan Rucker and wife Sandra, Alfred Rucker and wife JanaeM-m, Darlene Rucker, and Jay Rucker; several great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2005 at Aenon Union Baptist Church in Craigsville with the Reverend Arlene Cooper assisted by the Reverend David Carpenter. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Edwards, Issac Moore, Alfred Rucker, Ivan Rucker, James Rucker, Jr., Jerome Toles, and John Young.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the servives (from Noon until 1:00 p.m.), Friday at Aenon Union Baptist Church in Craigsville.
