On Tuesday, December 13, 2005, LARRY GEORGE NEWMAN, 66, of 137 Newton Hill Road passed away at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Transylvania County, he was the son of the late George J. and Lucille Thurmond Newman. Mr. Newman was retired from Platt Saco-Lowell and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Pickens Counsel 9576 and a 4th Degree member of the Seneca Assembly 1933 of the Knights of Columbus, and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Surviving are his wife of the home, Veronica Wilson Newman; two daughters, Laurie Newman of Liberty, and Christina Joan Newman of Pickens; two sons, Larry Joseph Newman and wife, Laura, of Easley and James Malachi Newman of the home; two grandchildren, Anthony Joseph Newman and Mikayla Ann Peters; and two sisters, Barbara Snelson and husband, Pete, and Margaret Cater and husband, Roger, all of Pickens. In addition to his parents, Mr. Newman was predeceased by a daughter, Anastasia Newman and a brother, Marion Richard Newman. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, December 16, 2005 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens. The Rosary will be held on Thursday evening starting at 6 P.M. with a visitation to follow until 8 P.M. at the church. The family will be at the home. Dillard Funeral Home is assisting the Newman Family.
