Player of the Year
Justin Kondos
Arundel
The 6-foot-4 senior standout was the county's center of attention this season, and he thrived, moving from midfield to a target forward position to create chances for himself as well as his teammates. The result was a 13-goal, nine-assist performance from Kondos that helped earn the Wildcats a share of the county championship as well as a run to the Class 4A East regional title game. Kondos, who will play at Georgetown next fall, ended his four-year varsity career with 26 goals and 20 assists.
Coach of the Year
Sean Tettemer
Broadneck
The Bruins (14-3-1) surpassed all expectations, coming away with a share of the county championship, claiming their first Class 4A East regional crown since 1990 and reaching the state title game for the second time. Tettemer, a Broadneck alum who was a senior goalie in the Bruins' first title appearance, got a collective effort from his entire roster -- using up to 18 players in a game -- with many sacrificing for the benefit of the team. The Bruins, who were 5-9-1 last season, saved their best game for last, despite a 1-0 loss to defending champion Sherwood in the title game.

GIRLS SOCCER
Player of the Year
Samantha Young
Severna Park
A second-team All-Metro forward last fall, the talented junior spent much of this season playing center midfield and proved to be a steadying influence in her new role for the county co-champion Falcons. Strong, skilled and dominant, Young constantly won balls in the middle and also produced up top with eight goals and five assists to bring her three-year totals to 36 goals and 20 assists. Playing on a sore ankle, Young was outstanding in the Falcons' 2-2 tie with Chesapeake in the county title game, scoring the game's first goal and often controlling play.
Coach of the Year
Jerry McBee
Chesapeake
The Cougars' veteran coach got the most of his entire roster this season, effectively rotating his forwards and midfielders to keep players fresh. The ability to make his unit cohesive was a big key to the Cougars' success. Included in the Cougars' 14-4-1 season was a share of the county title with Severna Park, as well as the Class 4A East regional crown.
