Sam Jackson

Before this past summer, Greyhounds coach Joseph Duncan asked each runner to log 4,000 minutes of running between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Jackson exceeded that mark by 500 minutes. That base helped the senior, a half-mile and mile star on the Gilman track team, to record runner-up finishes in the private schools race at the Spiked Shoe Invitational and the A2 division at the Doc Jones Anne Arundel County Invitational. Jackson capped his season by claiming the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship in 16 minutes, 15 seconds.

Mount St. Joseph

A fixture in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference, the Gaels were not highly regarded outside of their league. That all changed, however, in the elite division at Bull Run. Mount St. Joseph finished sixth at that meet, sprinting past perennial powerhouses River Hill and Dulaney and upstart Atholton. Peach and the No. 7 Gaels eventually placed second to top-ranked Loyola at the MIAA championships, missing out on what would've been the program's first title in cross country.
