Fairfield holds off Loyola, 76-71

Fairfield's Sabra Wrice hit two free throws in the final seconds to seal a 76-71 victory over Loyola yesterday, breaking the host Greyhounds' four-game winning streak.

Krystle Harrington's layup got Loyola within 74-71 before Wrice's free throws.

The Greyhounds (4-3, 1-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) were led by Lauren Troupe's 16 points and eight rebounds. Jackie Valderas added 15 points and eight rebounds.

Wrice had 26 points for the Stags (4-3, 2-0).

Millersville 60, Bowie State 32 -- Suffocating defensive pressure by the Marauders (3-4) limited the Lady Bulldogs (5-4) to seven points in the second half in the West Chester Classic. Allyson Swailes led Bowie State with 11 rebounds and eight points.

St. Mary's 77, Mary Baldwin 43 -- Freshman forward Allie Scott went 7-for-8 from the field and had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Seahawks (3-6) over the visiting Fighting Squirrels (1-7). St. Mary's shot 43.1 percent (28-for-65) from the field, while Mary Baldwin shot 22.6 percent (12-for-53).
