Washington Craft Show

Get in a little holiday shopping at the Washington Craft Show today. This year's show - the 18th annual - takes place at the Washington Convention Center. Shoppers will find works in glass, wood, metal, fiber, paper, ceramic and mixed media, as well as jewelry, basketry, furniture and wearable art, all crafted by 185 artists from around the country. (At right: a vintage owl decoy embellished with beads by Betsy Youngquist.)

Visitors also can attend talks and demonstrations by artists and explore a holiday-theme pavilion to gather tips on displaying crafts in the home.

The show runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the center, 801 Mount Vernon Place N.W. Admission is $14; $13 seniors; free for ages under 12. Details: 202-249-3000; craftsamericashows.com.
