`Lunch and learn' set on holiday art

The Carroll County Arts Council will hold a free "Lunch & Learn" lecture from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster.

Showing how artists have used winter scenes from the 14th century to Currier & Ives, Williamson will explain the images' deeper meanings. She also will discuss the spiritual and romantic symbolism of snow-covered images and their relation to humanity's place in the forces of nature.

Admission is $5 and free for Arts Council members. Participants can take a brown bag lunch. Coffee and dessert will be provided.
