December 10, 2005|By LAURA CADIZ

A Glen Burnie man pleaded guilty yesterday in Howard District Court to stealing 572.3 gallons of gasoline from Howard County government pumps.

Antoin A. Spence, 30, of the 200 block Evans St. was granted probation before judgment by Judge Alice P. Clark.

Clark ordered Spence to serve 10 days in jail, all on weekends.

Spence was accused of stealing gasoline worth $954.92 in 31 visits to county pumps between August 2004 and May 3 of this year, using a county gas credit card.

Spence had worked for a nonprofit company that contracts to transport disabled adults and is issued a county gas card, according to charging documents.

In July 2004, Spence was fired but continued using a county card to fill up his pickup truck, the documents state.
