Help the A-rabs

The lowdown -- A-rabs, the men and women who have sold fruits and vegetables out of horse-drawn carriages since the 19th century, struggle to survive as the city grows. On Saturday, you can help their cause by joining the Arabber Preservation Society and local bands Celebration and LowModa at the Charles Theatre. Proceeds benefit the APS. Meet a-rabs, watch a documentary or slideshow and hear the music.

Porterdavis

The lowdown -- Trio Porterdavis plays the Mojo Room and Lounge tomorrow. Guitarist Dan Barrett, singer/percussionist Mike Meadows and harmonica player Simon Wallace perform acoustic and soft electric music.

A slide show

The lowdown -- The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players shed light on the state of Christmas tonight at the Eight by Ten Club. Performing in front of slides they collect at flea markets, garage sales and antique stores, their lyrics, based on the slides, serve both as entertainment and contemporary political commentary.
