Thirsty Dog Pub

December 08, 2005|By SAM SESSA

This is a great last stop on the way back from bar-hopping in Federal Hill. The beer's cheap and fresh-brewed and the pizza mollifies gnawing late-night cravings.

Where --20 E. Cross St.

Call --410-727-6077

Notable --Any night, you can order two 10-ounce glasses of microbrews for a mere $3. Of course, you have to watch your intake, because all those smaller beers add up quick. You'll also want to grab a personal pizza -- another Thirsty Dog specialty. They range in toppings from pepperoni to chicken in buffalo sauce.

Vibe --With its varnished wood, old and charming decor and homey atmosphere, this place holds onto some old Baltimore attributes in the midst of a revitalizing neighborhood.

What to wear --Simple and straightforward -- jeans and a nice shirt will do fine, but you can easily get away with a ruddy T-shirt here.

Crowd --Older local pet-lovers fill out the pub during the early evening, but a younger squad takes over as the night progresses.
