we want your opinions

THE ISSUE:

The response to last week's question was so big, we are repeating it this week:

The Anne Arundel County school board has scheduled a forum for Dec. 14 on changing the times that the county's high school students begin and end their school day.

Some parents and educators have called for pushing back the 7:17 a.m. starting time, referring to research that teens need more sleep and are less alert in the early-morning hours. But starting high school later could have an impact on middle and elementary schools, and some parents don't want their middle-schoolers staying later. Some high school students and parents like the current schedule and don't want to change it.

YOUR VIEW:

Should Anne Arundel County schools push back the starting time for high school students, or otherwise change hours? Tell us what you think at arundel.speakout@baltsun.com by tomorrow. Please keep your response short and include your name, address and daytime phone number. A selection of responses will be published Sunday.
