2 -- Times in nine games that football teams from either Baltimore City or Baltimore County defeated teams from outside of their area during the past three weeks of playoff games. Dunbar of Baltimore City defeated Poolesville in the Class 1A South regional final, and Western Tech of Baltimore County defeated Catoctin of Frederick County in the Class 1A North regional semifinal.

3 -- Senior starters on this season's City College football team, comprised of Duke-bound receiver-defensive back Sheldon Bell, linebacker-tight end Keith Ransom and center Marcus Smothers. The rest of the Knights, who reached the Class 3A state semifinals, were underclassmen, including a freshman quarterback.

5.4 -- Seconds remaining when Gilman's David Johnson made the game-winning free throw to lift the two-time defending Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference champion Greyhounds over A Conference power Calvert Hall, 55-54, Friday. Johnson finished with 14 points and center Reggie Fugett added 12 in the Greyhounds' first win over the Cardinals since 1959, according to Gilman athletic director Tim Holley.
