An article in yesterday's Maryland section misquoted Alan Friedman, director of legislative relations for Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. Speaking about the governor's forthcoming legislative proposal for improving Maryland's sex offender registry, Friedman said: "What we're working for in terms of increased effectiveness does not create an unfunded mandate for local jurisdictions."

A graphic Sunday incorrectly identified the jurisdiction where Wesley Eugene Baker was sentenced to death. Baker was sentenced by a Harford County judge after the case was moved from Baltimore County. The graphic gave an incorrect middle name and sentencing date for another inmate, Heath William Burch. Burch was sentenced to death March 29, 1996.

A Business brief Saturday reported incorrectly that Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. had released its third-quarter earnings. The company released earnings in November.

The Sun regrets the errors.
