John Carroll offers its placement test

John Carroll School will offer the Catholic High School Placement Test at its campus from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Any prospective students for the school's 2006-2007 scholastic year should take the test. Students should bring two No. 2 pencils and arrive by 8:30 a.m. at John Carroll, 703 E. Churchville Road in Bel Air, for registration.

The exam costs $30. Advance registration is not required.

Leadership institute taking applications

Cecil Leadership Institute is accepting applications for its weekly class, which begins Feb. 11.

Participants will learn about leadership, county and municipal government, Cecil County public schools, economic development, and the county's history, demographics and comprehensive plan.

The class is designed to promote the development of existing and emerging leaders and to create a committed, involved and diverse network of leaders in Cecil County.

The course costs $495, and applications are due by Jan. 13.

Applicants must live or work in Cecil County to be eligible.
