Mary Ann Shockley, 58, nursery school teacher

Mary Ann Shockley, a nursery school teacher, died of complications from breast cancer Friday at her Perry Hall home. She was 58.

Born Mary Ann Elizabeth Puican in Baltimore and raised on Rappolla Street, she was a 1965 graduate of Eastern High School.

Mrs. Shockley worked for 19 years at St. John's Lutheran Nursery School in Long Green, where she taught 3- and 4-year-olds until two weeks ago. She also worked in the office of Dr. Marwan Hajj at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, and was a volunteer at the GBMC Cancer Boutique.

A memorial Mass will be offered at noon Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 13305 Long Green Pike in Hydes, where she had been an active member.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Thomas S. Shockley II, owner of a car-leasing business; a son, Thomas S. Shockley III of Cortland, N.Y.; a daughter, Tamra Shockley of Houston; a stepson, Michael Shockley of White Marsh; three sisters, Teresa Cantrell, Veronica Watts and Florence Bukosky, all of White Marsh; an aunt with whom she lived, Nina Shockley; and two grandchildren.
