A 34-yard kickoff return by B.J. Sams had given the Ravens good field position and, after Jamal Lewis picked up 12 yards on two carries, the Ravens went for the big play. Quarterback Kyle Boller (7) dropped back to pass, looking for receiver Mark Clayton (89). The Bengals' Deltha O'Neal (24) had perfect coverage, never letting Clayton get a step on him. Boller threw it deep to the inside, where only O'Neal could make the play, and the cornerback made the easy interception at the Bengals' 11.

The Bengals drove 89 yards in five plays for a 17-0 lead, and the margin would grow to 34-0 before the Ravens scored.
