Suicide threat forces lane closures

Police shut down two lanes of Interstate 95 in South Baltimore yesterday after a man threatened to jump off a highway bridge, authorities said. The incident began about 10 a.m. Baltimore police and fire officials rescued the man, whose name was not released, after about two hours and took him to a hospital to be evaluated. Police said they were investigating whether the man had been involved in an earlier accident. Police closed two northbound lanes of the highway near Hanover Street for about one hour.

Boy, 2, survives two-story fall

A 2-year-old child survived a fall from a two-story window yesterday morning in Baltimore County, police said. The boy fell from a window of a home in the 7200 block of Sindall Road in Hillendale about 10:45 a.m., police said. The boy, whose name was not released, was flown by Maryland State Police MedEvac helicopter to Johns Hopkins Hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, where he was in critical but stable condition last night, police said. No charges have been filed, but police said they are continuing to investigate.
