The Long Reach Community Association will offer Pilates exercise classes for adults from 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Jan. 10 through Feb. 28 at 8775 Cloudleap Court.
The cost for the eight-week session is $96, with a 5 percent discount for those living on Columbia Association-assessed property.

La Leche League of Columbia AM will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ Episcopal Church, 6800 Oakland Mills Road.

Book club to discuss `Queen of Harlem'
The east Columbia library's Black Fiction Book Club will discuss The Queen of Harlem by Brian Keith Jackson at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The library's Morning Books With Coffee Book Club will discuss The Photograph by Penelope Lively at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19.
The library will show a popular new entertainment digital video disc (title to be announced) at 7 p.m. Dec. 15, as part of its "New Release Cinema" series.

Conducts strikes -- Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Rachael E. Keyser, daughter of Janet L. Keyser-Taylor of Columbia and a 1998 graduate of Hammond High School, conducted strikes on an improvised explosive device production facility northeast of Baghdad, while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, based in Norfolk, Va. She joined the Navy in November 2001.
Jazz club -- Young musicians can learn to play jazz arrangements and participate in jam sessions with musicians from the Council of Elders at the Jazz Club at the east Columbia library, 6600 Cradlerock Way. The group meets from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays. Youngsters ages 11 to 15 playing any instrument and of all skill levels are welcome. Senior Lights Tour -- The Long Reach, Hickory Ridge and Owen Brown community associations will sponsor a Holiday Lights tour for senior citizens from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 11. The free event will include a bus tour through the Symphony of Lights display, a reception, gifts for participants and an appearance by Santa.
