Mick O'Shea's

The Venue

November 24, 2005|By SAM SESSA

Walk down Charles Street past Mick O'Shea's, and it's hard to resist the urge to go inside and check the place out. Its cold beer and warm and rowdy regulars are great medicine for the winter blues.

Where --328 N. Charles St., 410-539-7504

Web site --mickosheas.com

Notable --The back dart room, where the bar holds semi-frequent tournaments. There are also plenty of Irish flags throughout and a yellow stenciled outline of the Isle on a mirror behind the main bar.

Vibe --A bunch of bars around the city try to re-create or capture a true Irish spirit. Mick O'Shea's nails it -- through its patrons and decor.

What to wear --You can rock a suit, jeans or an eyebrow ring without turning heads.

Crowd --The business crew from Charles Street saunters down and stays for a while on weekday evenings. Late nights and weekends, Mick O'Shea's fills up mostly with young people.

Music --Coming shows include Marc Evans, Seamus Kennedy, Move Like Seamus and various open-mike nights.
