Matt Abbott, Glenelg

STATS -- The 6-foot-3, 260-pound senior has been a force on both sides of the ball this season for the Gladiators, playing right guard on offense and defensive tackle. His consistently strong run-blocking helped the Gladiators gain over 3,000 yards rushing this season, the fifth straight year they have done so. Abbott is a two-year starter.

SIDELINES -- Abbott carries a 3.86 grade point average and is still undecided on a college, but is considering enrolling in the University of Maryland's honors program. While English is his favorite class in high school, he plans to major in business. Along with playing football, Abbott has acted in six school plays - most recently enjoying the lead role in The Music Man. He also sings in the school's choir. Abbott, who said his playing days will be over after high school, is a big fan of the Denver Broncos.
