2001 Schlumberger Alsace Pinot Gris "Les Princes Abbes," $21

November 23, 2005|By MICHAEL DRESSER

Alsace pinot gris has long been my choice as the premier white wine to serve with turkey. (There are several reds that also match up well.) This version is a dry wine that has so much fruit flavor it gives the impression of sweetness. It's a full-bodied, mature wine with penetrating flavors of pear, peach, orange, honey and spices. It has length, grip and the stuffing to stand up to the variety of strong flavors on the Thanksgiving table.

Serve with --roast turkey, salmon
