Deadline for feedback on superintendent extended

The deadline for offering feedback on a new Anne Arundel County schools superintendent has been extended to Dec. 2.

Feedback forms may be downloaded from under the heading "Superintendent Search," and then by scrolling to "Anne Arundel County."

Annual AACC turkey trot scheduled Wednesday

Anne Arundel Community College will hold its annual 5K turkey trot and one-mile jaunt Wednesday beginning at noon at the Siegert Field on the Arnold campus. Registration for the 5K race is $18 for individual entries and $30 for doubles. The one-mile jaunt registration fee is $7. Prizes include a turkey and pies. Information: 410-777-2587.

Students can serve in government for day

Anne Arundel County has announced the kickoff of the "County Executive/Councilperson for a Day" and Model Government Program.

The contest is open to all 11th-graders who live in the county.

Eight students will be chosen to fill the duties of the county executive and the County Council for a day.

In addition, 30 students will be chosen to serve in the Model Government Administration as department heads, police and fire chief and members of the executive staff.

Students who want to enter must submit a short essay describing what they want to accomplish if given the chance to serve the Anne Arundel County government.

The deadline for entries is 5 p.m. Dec. 16.

The event will take place Feb. 21.

Holiday ceramics sale proceeds to benefit AACC

Anne Arundel Community College will hold a holiday ceramics sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 28 in the Cade Center for Fine Arts, Arnold campus. Items for sale include mugs, vases, dishes, teapots and planters. Select items will be sold by silent auction. Proceeds from the sale will help fund books, tools and other educational materials for the ceramics studio. Information: 410-777-7495.

Dance company plans performances Dec. 2, 3

The Anne Arundel Community College Dance Company will perform "Bodies in Motion" at 8 p.m. Dec. 2 and 3 at the Pascal Center for the Performing Arts, Arnold campus. Student choreographers have created solo and group works using various dance styles including salsa, hip-hop, modern and swing. Tickets are $8 general admission, $7 for seniors and children younger than 12, and $6 for AACC students and employees. Information: 410-777-2457.

Crafts show to benefit Health Services office

Anne Arundel Community College will hold a holiday crafts show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Student Union dining hall on the Arnold campus. The free event is sponsored by AACC Health Services and features crafts, gifts and artwork. Proceeds will benefit the Health Services office, which offers free health education programs.
