Kindermusik open house Dec. 2

Debbie Henning, director of Kindermusik of Carroll County, will hold an open house for the program that brings music and movement to children ages birth to 6 years old.

The free open house for parents and children will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 2 at Coffey Music, 31 E. Main St., Westminster.

Kindermusik teaches fundamentals of music, singing, dancing and playing instruments. The open house will include activities, demonstrations and materials.

Registration for spring classes begins Tuesday.

Starting Feb. 20, Henning will offer a new program, Family Time, consisting of 10 45-minute classes for families with multiple children of different ages.

Common Ground concert Dec. 3

Common Ground on the Hill will present its sixth annual holiday concert at 8 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster.

Walt Michael & His New York Company and guests will perform. Michael's wide repertoire ranges from old-time Appalachian to Celtic to original compositions. He is also a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, mandolin, banjo, autoharp and mountain dulcimer.

The concert will feature the high-powered twin fiddling of Evan Stover and Frank Orsini - and the string bass work of Tom Wetmore.

Individual tickets are $17 for adults, and $15 for seniors 65 and older, Arts Council members, children younger than 12 and students with identification.
